Water World is a family owned business that will make your boating purchase an enjoyable one. Our team of professionals is dedicated to offering our customers the highest level of products and services in the industry.
We entered the marine business in 1919, when my grandfather had a vision to bring boating to New Hampshire. He was an entrepreneur and a well-respected community leader, who would be proud to see how the business has grown and prospered. To continue in the family service after graduating from Saint Anselm College in 1979, I started working full time at Water World as the rigging coordinator. Customer friendships and connections have turned my experience in the marine industry into my life’s passion. Beyond my work, I serve on various community boards, am an avid sports enthusiast and father of two delightful boys. For years to come, I look forward to carrying on the longstanding Water World tradition.
My name is Raj Bhattacharya. I grew up in Manchester and Moultonborough, NH. Some of my fondest memories are on the water at Lake Winnipesaukee, boating, sailing, waterskiing, and fishing. After graduating from The Derryfield School and Southern New Hampshire University, I entered the automobile business as a sales consultant, working my way up to General Manager. I always knew I wanted to return to the lake. I feel very fortunate to be working for New Hampshire’s premiere marina. There is no better feeling than matching friends with their perfect kayaks, pontoon boats, sport boats, or cruisers. I would love to help you and your friends to enjoy the lake as much as do we at Water World. I shall see you soon at the marina or at KLCI.
I was born and raised locally right here in Laconia and spent my childhood enjoying activities on Lake Opechee and Winnipesaukee. I graduated from NHCTC with an associate degree in Applied Science Marine Technology. I started my career in the boating industry in 1996 as a technician and originally joined Water World in 1998 remaining with the company through 2007. During my absence from Water World I have remained working in the boating industry. I am thrilled to return to what I feel is my home and boating family at Water World. After 17 years in the industry I still can’t imagine working in any other industry. I have a passion for watersports and one of the favorite parts of my job is helping people gain knowledge of boating and navigation so they can take part in activities that are special to me and my family. I hope I can help all future and past customers get out and enjoy what I feel is the best family recreation choice around. Throughout my career I have strived to provide top notch customer service for my customers, it may be six months or six years I pride myself on never forgetting a face.
I was born and raised locally right here in Laconia. After studying Political Science at Plymouth State College, I moved away and into a career in the Golf Industry. As a PGA Professional Golfer, I played competitively and worked at golf courses throughout the U.S. All the years I spent on the road helped me build and cultivate lifelong relationships. Starting a family brought me back to my root’s in NH. I was VERY familiar growing up on the lake with the reputation of Water World. I am honored and looking forward to, working at a place where the goal has never changed their #1 priority is their customers and employees. I may be new to the boating industry, but I am NOT new to the relationship industry. I know without a doubt with the resources Irwin’s provides me. We can build a memorable experience and a lifelong friendship. I look forward to helping with your boating needs and making memories for you and your family on the water.
Born and raised on a lake in southern New Hampshire, I have been around water and boats my whole life. Following a six-year tour in the Navy, I returned to New Hampshire and my career in the power plant industry. My “midlife crisis” occurred shortly thereafter! I came to Water World ten years ago as a customer; but as my friendship grew with Irwin’s, I began to envision the career there that I could always enjoy. I quit my job and pursued a career in the boating industry. Since being employed at Water World, I have filled nearly every position Water World has to offer. From parts, to service, to sales, I have had my hand in it. My experience in all facets of boat ownership allows me to provide my customers with the answers to almost all of their questions and concerns and to understand their needs. As a father of four children and an avid boater and fisherman, I know the importance of matching my customers to the right boat at the right budget!
Scott Laurent was born and raised in Laconia NH. He grew up swimming, fishing and boating on the area’s lakes. “I learned how to drive a boat before I learned how to drive a car”. He attended Plymouth State College after graduating from Laconia High. Scott began his sales career at Irwin Automotive Group in 2000 where he spent 8 years selling cars and trucks. Just before the birth of his twins, Scott moved into the Mortgage industry where he spent 10 years helping folks navigate the process of buying and financing homes as a loan originator. “I’m thrilled to be back working with the Irwin family at the most respected marina on the big lake.” Outside of work Scott is a member and Past President of the Laconia Kiwanis Club, is an avid snowmobiler and enjoys riding his Harley during the warmer months. He currently lives in Gilford with his girlfriend and 3 kids.
Bruce has been with Water World for more than 41 years. He began his Irwin experience spending weekends as a youth on his family’s boat at our docks. Bruce is a graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He is married with two children.
I grew up in the small town of Freedom, New Hampshire. At the age of thirteen, I got a job pumping gas at Ossipee Lake Marina. I eventually became a technician there, but not before working in the rental department and ships store. I also met my wife when she got hired to run the rental department. We worked together for nine out of the eleven years I worked there. After we got married, we moved to North Carolina, so we could be closer to her sister and parents and I could work in the boating industry year-round. I was hired as a service manager for Hall Marine Lake Norman which is a Sea Ray dealer. After a couple years running the service department, I was promoted to General Manager. In 2017 Hall Marine merged their six locations with MarineMax. In October of 2019, I was offered a position with Water World. My wife and I were ready to move back home to NH and raise our daughters in New England like we were raised. I finished the year out with MarineMax and moved back in January to start my new career at Water World and could not be happier. I am passionate about boating and changing peoples lives by getting them out on the water making memories. My wife and I have raised our two girls to have the same passion we do about being out on the water.
My passion for boating began in the early 1970’s when my parents relocated our family from Massachusetts to New Hampshire. I spent summers water skiing on Crystal Lake and winters snowmobiling all around the Lakes Region. My boating career began in the mid-1980’s in Alton Bay. I came to work for Water World in 1992 when they took over management of Mountain View Yacht Club. My job was to assist customers with various boating needs, coordinate maintenance projects, rent and sell boat slips. After a number of years at MVYC, I transferred to Irwin’s main location in Laconia, where I currently assist the general manager with various projects while continuing to rent and sell boat slips at MVYC and other Yacht/Boat Clubs. I could not ask for a better job or a better company for which to work!
Kathy began working for Water World in 1986 as a bookkeeper and was promoted to Office Manager in 1998. She has a history of dedication to Water World and we value her years of service. Kathy may work behind the scenes, but she still is an integral part of our commitment to make boat ownership enjoyable for you!
I have been lucky enough to have grown up on the Big Lake. At 15 my first job was pumping gas here at Irwin’s in Laconia. I really enjoy working on the water, helping people enjoy an activity I have enjoyed my whole life. Happy Boating!
